Out of Town Resources
If you are coming from out of town, here are some resources to ensure a smooth stay. We can adjust times of surgery based on travel schedule and help coordinate medications, physical therapy referrals, and even medical specialist consultants in the NYP system for out of town patients when necessary.
Timeline Considerations
The surgery timeline is generally the same for local and visiting patients. Both need to see their primary care MD or cardiologist within 4 weeks of the day of surgery (DOS). Additionally, routine blood tests and EKR should be within 3-4 weeks of DOS. We offer Telehealth consults (with some restrictions on location) if needed.
Typically, visiting patients should come to town 1-2 days before surgery. If your primary care MD or cardiologist is at NYP, then you should come to town 3-5 days before surgery.
Patients traveling by plane should plan to stay for 1-2 weeks. Patients traveling by car only need to stay 1-2 nights.
