Surgical Cases & Results
To Dr. Jeffrey Geller and the entire team at Columbia Orthopedics Joint Replacement—at NewYork-Presbyterian and at Lawrenceville Hospital,
Thank you for ALL your wonderful help in making my life better. I am able to walk, thanks to all of you, without assistance. NO PAIN. I feel like I am 20 years old again!!
God Bless All!
I wish to sincerely thank you and your team for the wonderful care, having had two knee replacements—one in July, 2017 and this latest one on 1/2/18.
My surgery and recovery has been “a walk in the park!” — Very positive, less painful and very encouraging.
Thank you for being such a testament to your profession and to humanity as a whole.
My wife, went for a double-knee replacement at Columbia Presbyterian Hospital on June 9th. Her surgeon was Dr. Jeffrey Geller. Dr. Geller’s RN is Melissa Lolito.
I have researched Columbia Presbyterian’s standing in New York City and the nation as a whole. I must say that your ranking as “The Best” hospital in New York is certainly on the mark. My wife was treated with the utmost professionalism by all the staff at the hospital. Dr. Jeffrey Geller is a consummate professional, and an excellent surgeon with a great compassion for his patients. Nurse Melissa Lolito is magnificent, detailed and professional in her work. “Extreme Professionalism” is the word that exemplifies their efforts at the hospital.
After leaving surgery, she was placed on the 7 Garden North Wing. Once again, all of the staff on that unit were extremely attentive, kind to my wife, and professional in every manner.
Doctor Corbin, from the moment we walked into the hospital, we sensed the professionalism and extreme dedication within the building. We noticed it from the doctors in attendance, nursing staff, security personnel and personnel who were assigned to maintain and clean the facility.
Two years ago, I had my first encounter with Columbia Presbyterian’s professionalism when I first visited Director of Podiatry Dr. Zvi Bar David for foot problems. His professionalism persuaded me to ask my wife to consider your hospital for her knee replacements. Actually, Dr. Bar David recommended Dr. Geller for the procedure.
The sign emblazoned above Ft. Washington Avenue says it all, “Amazing Things Are Happening Here.”
I want to thank you, Dr. Robert Kelly, Dr. Jeffrey Geller, Nurse Melissa Lolito, the staff on 7 Garden North, Dr. Bar David and everyone at your wonderful hospital for your excellent service.
I would be remiss if I did not take the time to write this complimentary letter regarding the doctors, physician assistants, nursing staff and the entire support team caring for me as a patient at NewYork-Presbyterian/Lawrence Hospital.
In the last five (5) years I have been a patient at the following hospitals: Nyack, Good Samaritan, Hackensack University Medical Center, NewYork-Presbyterian and Lawrence Hospital. I have also had ten months of experience at Sloane Kettering Memorial Hospital (my son was battling Stage IV esophageal cancer).
Without a doubt, my knee replacement at NewYork-Presbyterian/Lawrence Hospital was the very best, unique experience. In fact, I will be returning to have my right knee replaced on 9/14. I anticipate having the same great results again at Lawrence Hospital.
The surgical team, lead by Dr. Jeffrey Geller, pre-op consultation planning and MRI with a custom knee to reduce bleeding was outstanding. The orientation session conducted by Nurse Maryann Rittenhouse was one of the most important phases for me as the patient and my wife Judy as the caregiver. Maryann even provided her personal cell phone number to use if we had any questions.
It should be noted that anyone that entered my room greeted me and introduced themselves, including personnel from the housekeeping department. It certainly raises one’s comfort level.
I would like to thank the following for their care:
- Dr. Jeffrey Geller, MD
- Melissa Lolito
- Dr. Jacques P. Merab, MD
- Victoria A. Ross, Nurse
- Michelle Outlaw
- Patty “from the Bronx,” Meal Delivery
- Elizabeth Malonzo, RN

Using my right hand, recuperating from carpal tunnel surgery, I must finally send you a note, telling you what happiness your expertise has brought into my life! I am walking through the streets of the Big Apple, no pain/no cane! And great distances.
You are a genius—and the physical therapy at the Recovery section of the NYC Health Club on 10 80th Street was excellent, too. I feel I’m entering a new life after all the trials of the past few years. At 88, I don’t know how many years I am granted—but I am determined to enjoy every day!
73-year-old female with severe pain in the right knee and “knock-knee” deformity. Dr. Geller performed robotic total knee replacement. Post-surgery, she is back to hiking, climbing, and exercising.
58-year-old female who does spin class, long distance bicycling and tennis. She underwent minimally invasive partial knee replacement—performed by Dr. Geller. After the surgery, she has been able to return to previous level of activity.
This 57-year-old female patient had a previously-revised total knee replacement. It continued to give her severe pain. Dr. Geller suggested—and did—an extensive revision knee replacement. The result was much improved function, including walking, climbing stairs and better stability.
This 58-year-old woman was told she needed extensive spine surgery. She was referred to Dr. Geller for a second opinion. She had severe avascular necrosis of right femoral head. Dr. Geller did a minimally invasive anterior total hip replacement. She was discharged home after one night in hospital. Previous to surgery, she needed a walker to ambulate, but she is now walking unassisted—post-operation.
This case is a 49-year-old male who was active with bicycling and running. Dr. Geller performed an ambulatory minimally invasive Anterior Hip replacement, and he went home the same day. He was able to return to pre-surgical activities.
A 25-year-old female presented for severe hip pain, with stiffness, limp, and difficulty walking more than 1-2 blocks. After failing a trial of non-surgical treatment, she elected to proceed with a left hip replacement.
This previously active 81-year-old male fell and sustained a left hip fracture. The fracture did not heal and the internal hardware broke / failed. He walked with exclusively a walker. He was converted to hip replacement with anterior approach. He is now walking unassisted with no pain, and resumption of regular activities, including walking on the beach.
